Before I begin, here’s a photo of me in Nadia’s and Chee Sin’s dedication video on their wedding from us. I didn’t know anything about it, hence, I was dressed really casual.
For their Chinese wedding, I wore a Cheongsam. Bought the fabric myself and let the tailor did her magic. Oh, if I knew how to sew, that would be awesome. Here’s a sneak peek.
Oh, I felt like a beauty Queen tonight.
Hello, hello! I am so sorry for not blogging every day as I used to then. I have so many things to do. I spend most of my days watching Disney animations, analyzing them for my thesis.
Hmm, anyway, I made the dough for the beignet today. Thanks to Tiana’s delicious looking beignets, I now crave them!
I followed the instructions from this website and now I have to wait for 24 hours for it to sit before I can roll, cut and fry them up!
From watching the same animation over and over again, I also plan to make a seafood gumbo this weekend! What is a gumbo, you ask? Well, from my research, it is basically a seafood (or meat) stew, New Orleans style!
I’m not sure if I can cook it exactly as the recipe states, I think I have to do some changes. If I’m too lazy, I’ll think of something similar. In any case, I really want a prawn dish! Damn craving, no thanks to PMS. Hmm.
Apart from my almost routine life, I am doing quite well. I’m struggling with the healthy lifestyle regime, there were times when I felt like giving up but it will be such a waste if I stop now. Besides, just another 10 kilogram to go before I reach my target weight.
I have something amazing planned for myself this year. It was rather crazy of me to actually applied for it. If everything goes according to plan, I will be out of the country for five months. They will call me this Friday to discuss about the next step.
I am very nervous. I am also worried. If I go, who will take care of my family? I’m not being selfish, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. When I replied their email last week, I thought I would never get the chance when they didn’t contact me back. I already made up my mind to forget about it when they replied!
So, there you go. Life is quite tedious at the moment. I promise I will update this blog with interesting entries soon, okay?
Yes, I flew to Singapore just to buy a bag. Unfortunately, this post is more dedicated to the little wallet I bought from the same store. So, are you ready? Here goes nothing…
I’m so scared of ruining the extra delicate and buttery soft leather, I haven’t taken it out from the box yet. Oh well, life is short, might as well enjoy the moment! Yes, I will use it sometimes this week.
I mean, the point of buying it is to put it to good use, if not, might as well frame it up. Meh.
P/S: Yes, I still feel guilty splurging my limited amount of money on a freaking wallet. But you know what? It felt good!
I think I was feeling under the weather and Aslan took me for dinner at Jambu to make me feel better. That explains the sweater and the tired expression on my face in the photo above. Now fast forward three years later, this is how I look now.
Now, should I cut my hair short again or just leave it as it is? Dye it black or just get the roots done? Straighten or perm? This girl needs help with her hair!
The perfect opportunity to experience how it feels like to be the most awesome headband designers ever, Sereni & Shentel! Hurry, book a slot now! See you there!
By the time I’m done with my thesis, I bet I will memorize every single line, song, expression etc in the Disney animations I’ve chosen for my research. My lecture is a genius, she asked me to narrow down the selections to a reasonable number based on a few criteria. In the end, I have only six Disney animations to analyze.
Among the criteria is she must be a princess either by blood or marriage. By the way, my thesis is titled ‘Someday My Prince Will Come: The Portrayal of Women through Disney Princesses from 1937 to 2011′. I sure hope it will be as impressive as it sounds!
They are Snow White, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, The Princess and the Frog and Rapunzel: A Tangled Tale (I had to pick only one princess for each decade…)
After watching all of these animations over and over again, I’ve come to the conclusion that marriage is an escape from a dreadful life, or least, finding a man provides a woman with a way out of misery.
But of course that is not always the case for us living in this realm we call reality. Not even near marriage, our relationship is tested with various obstacles. I don’t intend to list them all out, it’s so frustrating.
I must not get carried away with personal judgement when researching for the thesis, therefore, I shall stick to my objectives. Wish me luck.
P/S: Who’s your favourite Disney princess/heroine?
If you had money to spend, what would you do with it? Would you rather go on holiday or shop away your heart’s content? Don’t tell me you’d do both because that amount of money you have is only enough for a budget holiday or a shopping splurge.
I am torn between Bali or the bag. You must think I’m crazy for desiring a bag with such hefty price tag but at least I don’t gamble away all my money or waste them on unnecessary stuff. As my friend puts it, it is an investment.
Then again, maybe I don’t need a holiday nor a bag. It would be wiser if I just continue to save money, wouldn’t it?
The future is bleak and without money, one could barely survive.
Baking is so therapeutic. Remember when I baked those fruits last week? You see, I still have some brown sugar and other ingredients leftover. I didn’t want to waste them so I decided to bake plain caramel cookies. It’s a very simple recipe, I made a small batch just under 20 minutes!
Here’s the recipe for these yummy cookies:
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 tablespoon milk
1 1/4 cup plain flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Pre-hear oven to 190c. First, melt the butter. Second, pour in the brown sugar and let it dissolve completely. Make sure the mixture cooled down a bit before you crack the egg into it followed by the vanilla essence and milk. Finally add flour, salt and baking powder and mix well. Scoop one teaspoon of mixture onto a greased baking paper and leave in the oven for 8-9 minutes. Let it cool down before serving. Good luck!
Based on the photo above, which Barbie do you think you resemble the most? I came across this Barbie Basics when I was browsing around Toys ‘R’ Us and it made me wondered the same question.
I just stood there at the Barbie section, deep in thought when a quote repeatedly crossed my mind.
“You were born an original, don’t die a copy…”
Hell yes, I am original! Girls out there, be proud of yourself no matter what. Everyone is beautiful, love yourself just the way you are.
