Honey, I’m HOME!

I have a few GOOD news to share with you. On top of that list is I am now FREE! Oh, it felt so good the moment I sent my thesis to be bound at the shop. It took me two days straight to edit everything after I got back the final draft. Believe it or not, I slept on the couch for two nights. But it was worth it.

I got an A for my Final Year Project! I am still OVER THE MOON HAPPY! To celebrate this important event, Aslan brought me out to a nice cosy lunch for two at Baba Ganoush restaurant at Pending.

My man have not slept for two days straight. Yup, assignment week.

We ordered a few dishes to share. The food took quite a while before it was served.

Midin Belacan: Absolute favourite of mine. The combination of chillies and shrimp paste is EPIC!

Cangkuk Manis with Dry Shrimp: Too salty for my liking, should stick to the one with egg.

Creamy Butter Chicken: Too sweet, it could be better if the chicken was coated with tempura added with a little bit of sea salt. I like my butter chicken crispy.

Sweet and Sour Prawn: It was nice but it did not have the specific taste I was looking for, I was quite surprised they added egg into this dish...

Deep Fried Crispy Oyster Pancake: Oysters were playing hide and seek in the pancake. Not the best oyster pancake, nor the worst.

I promise I will blog more soon. Right now, all I wanna do is sleep. ZzZ…

Glampot Boutique

As you all know by now, I absolutely love bags although the kind of bags that I love can be quite heartbreakingly expensive. Did you know the latest price for a Chanel Maxi flapbag in KL is now RM16150? My heart did fall down to the floor when I found out about it.

Luckily, there are some solutions to this dilemma for all of us bag ladies out there.

First, fly to either UK or Europe where it is about RM4000 cheaper (This does not include transportation, accommodation etc cost and TAX). Let’s do a rough calculation suppose we include all this costs: RM4000 seems about right. You can’t win, can you?

Second, gather a group of friends and play ‘hoi’. I shall give you an example. Let’s say I want to buy a RM6000 bag from YSL. I’ll look for 11 friends interested to join into this money making venture with me. The arrangement is as follows:

For every month in a year, the group members will pay RM500 each. 12 times Rm500 is RM6000. One randomly selected member from the first month will receive the lump sum collected from all members. She or he will not be able to receive anymore after being selected and this continues until the one year duration is up. It is like gambling but everybody wins although it may take a while. :p

If you’re not too keen on waiting, this is where the third solution comes in.

Glampot Boutique where you can find amazing new and pre-loved designer bags at such affordable price! What makes Glampot more unique is the fact that they carry a variety of designer brands such as Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, Balenciaga, Gucci, Burberry, Coach, Yves Saint Laurent, Miu Miu and even HERMES just to name a few!

Apart from selling bags, they also sell designer brand shoes, clothes, jewelries and accessories. They also offer pre-order services and credit card installments for some of the bags. :D

Among some of the bags up for sale:

YSL EZ Bag (1766-1-2) RM4888 Condition: Excellent INSTALLMENT FROM AS LOW AS RM222.00 per month!

Mulberry Dark Brown East West Bayswater (2096-1-2) Condition : Gently loved, excellent RM 3650 NOW ON SALE RM 3199.00 Installment for as low as RM 145.28 / month

LV Monogram Palermo GM (5610-1-1) Condition : Gently loved, excellent RM 4299 Installment via credit card for as low as RM 195.26 per month

Miu Miu Black Coffer (2443-3-2) Condition: Very Good Price: RM 5699.00 Installment as low as RM 258.83 per month

Proenza Schouler PS1 Black Large Satchel (5194-1-1) Condition: Brand New Price: RM 4299.00 Installment: RM 195.24 per month

Balenciaga Mint Green Giant Rose Gold City (2387-1-2) Brand New, Latest color to arrive in Paris, not shown on website RM 6399.00 Installment as low as RM 290

As for Hermes bags, whether it’s Kelly or Birkin, one have to pay for the full price. Among my favorite:

Hermes Red Birkin 35 Mysore Leather, very rare and hard to get. Palladium Hardware Stamp G (2003)RM45,500

Yup, RM45500 alright. *sighs*

They also have a brand new Chanel Maxi in Black caviar with Silver Hardware selling for RM1000 cheaper compared to the price at Chanel KL boutique.

This beautiful baby yours for RM15150

If you’re planning to invest on a Chanel bag, better do it now before the price rises again. There is a speculation online stating that Chanel aims to make their bags as exclusive as Hermes in the near future. Exclusive in this context means crazy expensive. Yes, heartbreaking indeed.

The best thing is… FREE SHIPPING for Sarawak and Sabah! So, what are you waiting for? Visit Glampot Boutique now!

Family Portrait

In today’s post, I will blog about my siblings and I.

There are six of us. In alphabetical order: Aefilda, Anisha, Effadylia, Naquyuddin, Nastassia and Surfri. Why alphabetical order? To avoid a certain someone to feel old. :p

We're up for reality series contract if anyone is interested... Hahaha. Right.

From L-R: Anisha (15), Nastassia (21), Aefilda (23), yours truly (21*), Surfri (19) and Naquyuddin (13).

No, seriously, it would be interesting if there were a reality series based on my family... I'll be the drama queen as always but in a good way... Hehe.

I am not ashamed to admit that I am not the best sister in the world but truthfully speaking, I do care for them, in my own way, of course. Sure, being the eldest comes with many perks but at the same time, burdened with a lot of responsibilities.

I cannot lie to you that there was a time when I wish I could be an only child. When I was younger, I did wonder how would life be like if there were only my parents and I. I would be the apple of their eyes, the house will be less crowded, a better education and many more opportunities for me. Selfish, much? You can’t blame me for wanting some attention.

Aefi was born when I was one year and seven months old. I was three years old when Shasha was born. Surfri or Boy came to the picture when I was five. For a while, I seriously thought I would not have any more younger siblings until Anisha and Naq were born in 1996 and 1998 respectively.

Growing up was not a smooth road for me. I’m not trying to say I didn’t have a happy childhood but it was more or less bittersweet. I cannot remember how many times we almost kill each other fighting over small silly stuffs. Having said that, there are also countless good times spent together; for example, going on an imaginary adventures in our parents room, the backyard, the living room, anywhere really.

Thankfully we managed to go through the turmoil-ridden teenage years. It wasn’t easy but we learned from our mistakes.

If you didn't know any better, who do you think is the eldest? Hehehe.

Let’s focus on the present. Both Aefi and Shasha are married. The rest of us? Well, I am currently in a relationship with Aslan and will graduate from Unimas this October. Boy is still having a post-school crisis. He’s still finding the right path, I sure hope he’ll find it soon. Anisha and Naq are still schooling.

I realized my siblings are all I got since my parents divorced. I don’t mean to sound too dramatic but it just feels like that. Talking about my parents… I am disappointed with them. Yes, I do understand their situation but I wish they would take some time to try to understand us.

Oh well, God knows what He is doing.

Lunch at Cafe Cino, Hilton

I fancied roasted vegetables with hummus taste today. As a result, we went to Hilton’s Cafe Cino as it is the only place I know of in Kuching that have roasted vegetables and hummus paste.

Latte with biscotti and plain water for Aslan

Iced Chai Latte: Tastes a whole lot better taken warm, I've learned my lesson...

We waited for about fifteen minutes before our freshly baked bagels came. While waiting, Aslan got me a piece of chocolate macaron from the counter. It was nice but I prefer their almond chocolates more than anything.

Was a bit put off by the colour, why pink when it's chocolate? Hmm.

Honestly, before I took a bit of my bagel, I was very skeptical of Hilton’s food quality but surprisingly, today, the quality was top notch. I actually enjoyed my meal here. What do you know?

Not exactly the bagel I had in mind but it was close enough!

Aslan ordered Brie and Tomato bagel while I had the Mediterranean Chicken with grilled vegetables bagel and asked for some hummus paste. Aslan and I enjoyed our bagel very much. Aslan didn’t expect the mind blowing pairing of bagel or any bread with hummus. Fantastic!

Hilton's version of hummus paste

I look forward to my next visit to Cafe Cino. I sincerely hope they will always keep up with this standard, I love it.

I am going to blog about other things apart from bags. I am sure I’ve infected some of you with my obsessions for beautiful bags. No doubt. Hehe. Anyway, today, I want to share some of the dishes I have been craving but can’t really eat because of my diet. Here goes nothing.

First on my list is the ever so simple and YET so fattening Prawn Cocktail.

Here‘s the recipe. Although I must say, in the original recipe, there is no mention of Worcestershire sauce or black pepper. The best prawn cocktail I ever had is from Brown’s restaurant in Windsor.

I am contemplating whether I should take a train to Windsor when I am in London so that I could be united with this lovely Prawn Cocktail at Brown's...

Next on my list is Lamb Salad!

Lamb Salad from the Clock Hotel, Gold Coast.

Lamb Salad at one of the Italian cafes at South Bank, Brisbane.

Oh, there is something about grilled lamb, feta cheese and salad. It may not be the most healthy choice of salad but it can be a very healthy main course! :p Brisbane has the best restaurants that serve Lamb Salad. Yes, I would go back to Brisbane just to have Lamb Salad… Hehehe.

Click here for the recipe that almost resembles what I had in Brisbane.

Third, another Australian favourite, Monte Carlo biscuit!

All you need is a bite and life will never ever be the same!

It was unintentional. I bought the biscuit during a pitstop on our way to see the Twelve Apostles in Melbourne, Australia. Everyone else had warm savory pie but since I was on a diet, all I would eat was a biscuit. I’ve been craving a Monte Carlo since then. Mmm…

Click here to try out the Monte Carlo experience.

Okay, I think I better stop here for now because I am making myself very hungry. Still, here are the list of the dishes I am craving for…

  • Vegetarian Lasagna from Prego, Fairmont Hotel, Singapore
  • Sunday Roast Meal from the Bridge Hotel, Norwich
  • Vegetable Soup from any tea room in Glasgow
  • Egg Mayo and Crest Sandwich from the Thistle Hotel, Glasgow
  • Lamb Pesto Sandwich from Cafe Laurent, Melbourne
  • Falafel from Portobello Market, London
  • Tony Roma’s beef ribs!
  • Mom’s tempe goreng with anchovies and peanuts
AGH, I am torturing myself. Boo!

Urban Roots 2011

Nothing to do this weekend? Well, head down to Green Heights Mall for the Urban Roots festival!

Here are the activities for Friday to Sunday:

I went there to visit my babes Gwen and Nadia who both have a booth there.

Can you spot me? ;)

Gwen of Lovely Gwendolly selling gorgeous dresses and accessories while Nadia of Kayu Manis selling delicious homemade delicacies such as Nasi Briyani Ayam, finger foods and oh, scrumptious cupcakes! Mmm…

Kayu Manis Nasi Briyani Ayam RM7.50: If I weren't dieting, I'd buy another one.

Unfortunately, the Nasi Briyani Ayam was today’s special. Fear not, tomorrow Kayu Manis will have a variety of dishes to please your tastebuds!

Banana Roche Cupcake RM 4.50: RICH and super delicious, I smiled all the way after the first bite. Mmm...

Chee Sin sure is lucky to have Nadia, the pretty lady on the right, as his wife! Complete package, okay!

We also learned how to make tuak today through the tuak making demonstration. Now I fancy tape, a local desert of fermented rice. Mmm…

These two ladies are hilarious!

Gwen’s booth is magical! Wouldn’t it be nice if my wardrobe was as organised as her booth?

Dresses on the right while accessories are properly arranged on the table. I seriously need Gwen to teach me how to organize things properly!

We could not resist a photo session.

Nadia, Gwen, moi and Zsa

Of course there are other interesting booths there but as this is just a sneak peek, you just gotta go there to see them for yourself! I definitely will go back, I don’t wanna miss all the fun!

I came across this website that sells exotic food and products. I found it interesting, ergo I would like to share some of my findings with you.

How many of you will throw out your food/drink just because there is ONE ant in it? Honestly, I would.

Apart from chicken, beef and seafood, I dare not to eat anything else out of my usual palate.

BUT if you’re looking for something beyond your usual taste, then Edible is for you.

Let’s start with the easy stuff.

Can't get any more organic than this!

This species of ant is the largest of them all. According to the website, “the Guane Indians believe that these Ants have youth giving and Aphrodisiac properties and they are often served as fertility giving marriage food during nuptial ceremonies. Hormigas Culonas taste similar to crisply fried bacon with an earthy taste, and make the perfect alternative party snack instead of nuts or olives!”  If you don’t fancy seeing the ants before eating them, maybe you want to try this one instead:

With a crunchy surprise in the center...

Hand toasted Giant Queen Leafcutter Ants coated in the finest Belgian Chocolate. If you didn’t know it was an ant you’re eating, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. This is one of their popular product! Maybe more popular when April Fool approaches. Looking for something more exotic?

Taste like bbq popcorn...

Okay, maybe this is not as exotic sounding compared with our very own sago worms but how bout this one?

Imagine a fatter version of the sago worms

Salted Mopani worms’ protein content is three times that of beef, weight for weight, and are traditionally cooked in a stew containing tomatoes and onions. The biggest worms have the best flavour as they contain more fat ; the texture is similar to tofu or soya meat and they taste a little like dried fish, but they seem to soak up the flavour of whatever they are cooked with.

Perhaps you want something crunchier. How ’bout crickets? Curried crickets to be more specific.

Oven baked and seasoned with Thai Green Curry!

Too boring for your palate? Well, fancy something more adventurous?

Contains an edible scorpion, not just for decoration by the way.

Toffee scorpion candy; delicious and sugar free.

Need something to perk you up a bit? This works better than coffee!

GIANT Hornet Honey!

The Giant Japanese Hornet is the largest species of wasp in the world, and it contains special enzymes in its body which are reputed to increase strength and energy levels. Once consume, it instantly perks you up!

I think I’ll stick with my current diet choice.
