Lunch at Ku De Ta, Singapore

Since Marina Bay Sands was launched, I always wanted to dine at the so called hot spot, Ku De Ta. Almost three years later, I finally had the chance to do so. It is a restaurant and a club lounge. The deco is very lovely and the view, provided it is a clear day, absolutely stunning.

The concept of the food is modern Asian cuisine. Ku De Ta is 90% about location and well, sad 10% about food. Service is okay. Selection of food is decent and the price, similar as the sky high venue, expensive. Portion? Decent, if you are on diet. Hehehe. Taste wise? Good but not the best I ever had. Out of five stars, I’d give this place a three.

We went for the lunch tasting. The menu is described as the chef’s travel inspirations from north to southeast Asia. Here are what we had for lunch:

Spicy Tuna Roll

Spicy Tuna Roll for starter. If it is not better than Minoru, it is bad. This is bad.

Black tiger prawn salad

Black Tiger Prawn Salad which consisted of passion fruit ponzu, daikon, suyo cucumber and roasted capsicum. I really like this dish.

Panko Coated Korokke

Panko Coated Korokke which is Kogoshima sweet potato with white Ponzu butter coated with crumbs

seared yellowfin tuna steak

Seared Yellowfin Tuna Steak served with shishito pepper, avocado and kaffir lime

Roasted Black Cod with red miso, shishito pepper and shiitake mushroom

Roasted Black Cod with red miso, shishito pepper and shiitake mushroom. Simple dish, I love it.

US prime ‘brandt beef’ ribeye with braised red onion and coriander butter

Grilled Australian Lamb Rack with marinated tomatoes, spiced sesame and shiso sauce

As for dessert, well, truly worth going. I ordered ice cream and I was not disappointed. Well, except for the small portion lah.

Srawberry sorbet and vanilla ice cream. Heaven!

Srawberry sorbet and vanilla ice cream. Heaven!

Would I return? Honestly, the food is lovely but the price is upsettingly expensive. The venue and service is good. I would return if I was not the one paying the bill. Hehehe. Overall, a wonderful experience. I expected too much out of Ku De Ta.

Love,
E.
